Hey guys,
Ostara is this Tuesday (March 20). It's a time of balance between night and day, the Spring Equinox. It's very much like Easter: the symbols are bunnies and eggs, same pastel colors, and around the same time.
At this time, the God is growing up to be a young man. He has gained strength after his birth at Yule. The Goddess has also returned to her maiden aspect. They see each other through new eyes. I like to think of them as dating. Ostara is one of the lesser Sabbats, but I believe all Sabbats are each an important part in this spiritual love story.
Because it is spring, your altar should include anything that represents life to you. This could be plants, seeds, pictures, or even stuffed animals.
Before the ritual, you might want to have colored eggs. Appropriate colors would be yellow, green, and purple. Just dye hard boiled eggs and save them for a treat for later. You might also want to perform the ritual outside. It's spring and nice out and full of life. That's why we're celebrating.
Ritual:
You will need:
Candles- green, yellow, purple
Ribbons- same colors
Circle materials
Steps:
1. The first thing you want to do before any ritual is cleanse the area. Both physically and spiritually.
2. Cast the circle.
3. If you're solitary, you might want it to be simple. For those in a coven or group might want something more elaborate. Which ever you decide, make sure everyone is incorporating something.
4. Light the candles. Green- earth and life. Yellow- sun. Purple- divine. The divine can be anything you find spiritual: God/Goddess, Spirit, your inner Divine, etc.
5. The ribbons can be used as decorations or something to dance with. Anything you want.
6. Think about what this day means for you. How do you keep a balance between light and dark in your life?
I know this ritual may seem vague compared to the ones I've posted before, but I really think that everyone should make it they're own. Look at what I write as an example and then build from it until its almost entirely yours. It has more power this way.

Chaste Moon Today (:
Hey there,
It's March so this full moon is called the Chaste Moon. March is a time for new beginnings. Cold winter days are giving way to warm spring days. I'm looking forward to this full moon because time for that spring cleaning that I've been talking about. It's a good way to start fresh and get rid of all that junk, physically and spiritually. That's what the word chaste means: pure.
I honestly don't know a ritual to perform for this moon. I am, however, still going to be casting a circle. And, to stick to the bright beginnings theme, I'll burn a sage smudge stick for purity.
I googled 'Chaste Moon Ritual' and found one that involves sweeping the negativity out of your home. I would love to do this but I don't have a broomstick. I have a vacuum, though. I'm not sure it works the same way because I can't physically push anything out the door. I'll just pretend ;)
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Blessed Be

Casting a Circle
Hey there,
The number one question I get is How do I cast a circle? Maybe I should have posted this a long time ago. Better late than never, right?
I first want to say that everyone casts their circle differently. It could be simple or very elaborate. Sometimes they're cast to store energy or for protection. Either way, circles are typically all set up the same way.
The first thing you want to do is clean the area. Both physically and spiritually. You don't want any negative energies weighing you down. Most witches sweep the floor while burning sage. It's also a good idea for you and anyone joining you to meditate beforehand.
Next, you have to ask yourself if you have the right materials. What are you using to represent each element? Will you need candles and matches, or objects like salt and shells? Will you be using your wand/athame? What will you be wearing? How many people will be there? How much space do you need?
It's important to know that you don't need special tools to be Wiccan. All you need is faith. Sometimes it's hard to have certain things while you're living with your parents. Not to mention how expensive it all can be. It's completely understandable. It's possible to cast your circle with nothing but your finger.
Casting the circle: Before calling each element, it's respectful to give them the proper introductions. To do this, you could say what they each do for you. Start at the East for Air, move to the South for Fire, then West for Water, then North for Earth. A lot of people also go to the Center for Spirit, or the All, etc. Your circle is then complete and you're free to do any magical workings.
This, for example, is how I would cast my circle:
At the East Watchtower I would place incense and a feather. I'd light the incense and wave the smoke with the feather as I say:
Air, Guardian of the East,
With the powers of knowledge and intellect,
I ask that you join me in my circle.
Then I'd move to the South Watchtower. There, I would have placed a red or orange candle. As I light it, I would say:
Fire, Guardian of the South,
With the powers of passion and free will,
I ask that you join me in my circle.
Then I'd to the right again to the West Watchtower. There would be a bowl filled with beach shells and water. I would say:
Water, Guardian of the West,
With the powers of emotion and intuition,
I ask that you join me in my circle.
Then I'd go to the North Watchtower where there would be a bowl of salt and a pentacle. I would say:
Earth, Guardian of the North,
With the powers of stability and birth,
I ask that you join me in my circle.
Then I'd take a handful of salt and sprinkle it around the circle and say:
Spirit, Guardian of All,
Combining all elements with myself,
I ask that you join me,
Making my circle complete.
Of course there is much more to it than I could write down. You have to put yourself into it. If all you did was copy exactly what I have written here, where would the magick be? You have to make it your own.
Blessed Be.

About Me
Hey there,
I was thinking that I should write a post that shares things about me. Some of you might be thinking, I don't even know this girl. Should I trust what she's saying? Let me just say that the answer to this question is entirely up to you. If you don't agree with some of the things I'm blogging, I'd love to hear your point of view.
But I'm digressing. The real reason I'm posting this is so you can have a better idea of who I am.
I Love...
1. both cats and dogs.
2. any kind of music.
3. reading and writing.
4. books about vampires.
5. drawing.
6. running.
7. the owl that lives in my neighborhood.
8. annoying my little sister.
9. skinny jeans.
10. shoes shoes shoes.
11. '80s movies.
12. sleeping in the daytime.
13. staying home "sick".
14. girl stuff (doing my hair & nails).
15. getting out of my house.
I hate...
1. bugs.
2. cleaning.
3. ignorance.
4. my annoying little sister.
5. when girls act dumb.
6. when boys act stupid.
7. how the floorboards only creak when I'm trying to be stealthy.
8. gym class.
9. waking up early.
10. Disney channel.
11. when people make fun of my clothes.
12. high school (sometimes).
13. when previews are better than the actual movie.
14. wearing sweats to school.
15. being sick.
Wiccan Stuff
1. I do tarot cards.
2. I don't cast spells other than healing.
3. I love writing this blog.
4. Sometimes I meditate instead of doing homework.
5. I talk to my spirit when I'm alone.
Other Stuff
1. I play the violin.
2. I always wear black (even without thinking about it).
3. I think Shakespeare is hilarious.
4. I don't wear make up to school.
5. I speak French.
Just a side note: the stuff about wearing black and vampires and stuff- I'm not goth or anything, it just seems that way.
So, I'm sure there's a ton more to say but if you really did read all of this, you're probably extremely bored right now. I'll just dismiss myself...

Storm Moon
I am terribly sorry. I know the full moon was last Tuesday and I wrote this post the Monday before that. I thought I posted it but apparently all I did was save it. I didn't notice until today and now I'm a week too late. But I'm still going to post it just for future reference. So here it is:
Hey guys!
I hope everyone is having a totally fabulous week. I know I am (considering it's still only Monday). Tomorrow is a full moon and since it's February it is call the Storm Moon.
During the Storm Moon, we look for positivity. This month's ritual is simpler than previous ones. All I'll be doing is casting a circle and maditating. During this time, I'll be thinking about the changes I'm facing in my life and looking for the good in it all. Also, I'll pray that the God and Goddess can guide me to be more optimistic. Optimism is not something I see very often and I would really like to change that. We all need that knowledge of hope and goodness. Also, being more positive lowers your stress levels.
There really isn't a specific food to have this time so I'll just say eat whatever you like. And don't forget the offering. Place it under a cedar or Rowan tree.
This is the week we should be starting our spring cleaning. Release those negative energies and embrace the positive ones!

Candlemas!
Hey there,
Okay, so I know it's supposed to be called Imbolgc but isn't Candlemas a much cuter name?
Anyway, this is officially tomorrow but I probably won't get to the whole ritual thing until this weekend. But just in case you guys are able to do it tomorrow, I'll post it right now.
Candlemas is celebrated in honor of the Goddess nurturing the God as he grows up. The day represents growth as the seasons change from Winter to Spring. Living in The midwest, I normally wait until the snow melts for this ritual. The snow in my neighborhood is almost completely gone as of this morning after it rained all night. So, it's perfect timing!
Ritual:
You will need:
~Lots and lots of candles. Or as many as you have, preferably white. Tealights are perfect.
~Things used in a circle casting.
~Food: pancakes or crepes
Wine or mead
Steps:
1. Cast the circle.
2. Invite the God and Goddess.
3. Raise energy. (singing, dancing, drumming, breathing, etc.)
4. Start lighting the candles and give each one a purpose.
Examples:
"I light this candle for the sun that shines.
This one is for the earth that keeps me grounded
One candle for the friends I have been blessed with."
5. This is the time for any candle magick spells you have prepared.
6. Now you pray for an abundant season. Ask the God and Goddess for a healthy year.
7. Thank the God and Goddess for joining you.
8. Depending on your situation, you can leave the candles burning or blow them out. You wouldn't want to start any fires.
9. Close the circle and ground your energy.
10. Enjoy the pancakes/crepes! Be sure to leave an offering and when you're finished, put it under a willow tree.
Since its getting close to that time, I hope you're all prepared for your spring cleaning. Because we all just love to clean ;P
But on a serious note, cleaning your physical space does wonders for your Spirit because you're getting rid of all those negative energies held in your living space.
Just think about it, please.
Have a wonderful Imbolc!!

Tenets of Faith
Hey there,
I realize it's been, like, a week since my last post. Actually, my posts seem to get more and more far apart. Just getting back from the Winter Break from school is a stressful time for me because I've gotten used to living nocturnally. ;) needless to say, my sleeping habits are a bit off. And then add that to the four hours of homework every night that I never have the energy to do. But hopefully, this week I'll be back on track and up with the sun.
Sorry for spilling all that. But what do you expect from a 16 year old blogger? Haha
So now on to the important stuff:
There are many different Wiccan Tenets of faith. They are all different depending on how you practice. Along with the Wiccan Rede, The Law of Three, The Wiccan Creed, and all other basic rites, there are more defined things to think about.
After some research, I've come up with this list:
1. Learning
With any religion, you have to know what you practice. Learning is more than reading a book about Wicca. There will always be things you don't know yet. You'll hear all about "A Year and a Day". However, I believe that after learning for a year and a day, you know only enough to decide if it's right for you. It's impossible to know everything there is to know about a religion after just a year. I love that we learn something new everyday. Let's all make a promise to ourselves that as individuals, we will keep learning about Wicca for as long we practice.
2. Balance & Harmony
Balance is a very important key. Have you seen the movie The Craft? Remember when the witch at the store talks about true magick? She says true magick is neither black nor white. It's what the witch does with it that makes it good or evil. Magick is both because nature is both. Even though it's a Hollywood movie, it's true. Also, I know some of you have found 'your element' and that's great! But you can't just focus all your energy on that one element. You will have an uneven circle. So try to find ways to become closer to the other elements. This goes for things like the God and Goddess as well as night and day. Never underestimate your dreams. ;)
3. Love & Trust
You know the saying "With perfect love and perfect trust". These two go hand in hand. Have you noticed how negative people have been lately? Don't let them get you down. Try to bring them up. Love everyone with a pure heart. You might dislike or even hate a particular person. You can always hate them more, but you can't love them less. You are all my brothers and sisters who I love dearly even though I've never met you. And you'll be surprised how much love you get back. As for trust, same thing goes. I know it's hard to trust everyone, but the more people you put your trust into, the more you get back. I'm only hoping that as I get older, this will be easier. But I make no promises.
4. Humility
No this has nothing to do with being humiliated. Having humility means to be humble or modest. Never make anyone feel less important than you. And never feel like you are less important than anyone else. This is an insult to the God and Goddess and the incredible things they have created (YOU). We are all put on this earth to make a difference. And never believe otherwise. There is only one of you, and no matter your intentions, the world needs you.
5. Tolerance
Being part of a religion that most people don't understand, it's hard to be tolerated. But you must be respectful of everyone's opinions. Paganism is a religion that tolerates things like individuality and sexual preferences. Things that maybe Christianity doesn't approve of. And that is perfectly fine. And we, as Pagans and Wiccans and Witches, must tolerate and respect their opinions. It is okay to defend yourself, but in a respectful manner. Forcing what you believe upon another is not acceptable for anyone of any religion to do. Tolerance is a very good moral to have. Accept people as they are because isn't that what we were taught since we could walk?
Maybe one day I'll make 5 different posts explaining each of these in more detail. As I read over this, I realize how corny most of it is. But just know, I mean ever word I type.
And now I'll take a moment to appreciate long weekends and pray that this week is better than the last.

Wolf Moon
Hey there,
Tomorrow, January 7, will be a full moon. Since it is January, it is called the Wolf Moon Esbat. It is also called the Cold Moon, however, it's not quite cold where I live.
This is the perfect time to do protective (physical or spiritual) magick for yourself, your family and friends, or your home.
Like last month during the Oak Moon (see earlier post), we want to get closer to the God and Goddess, especially now that the God has been reborn. During this ritual, we will ask for their protection for the rest of the year.
As always, this can be done by yourself or in a group.
Ritual:
You will need:
~An altar set with black, white, & silver candles
~Any and all things used for circle casting
~(Optional) anything needed for your protective spells
~Mead and bread/cake (for yourself and as an offering) & dishes
~You can also have a silver candle for each person.
Best to be done outside in the light of the moon. If it's inside, open a window.
First, cast a circle. Invite the God and Goddess.
Light your silver candle and pray for what you wish to be protected. For a group, whether you're all inside or outside the cast circle, sit or stand in a circle. You should each be holding your silver candles. Go around and pray individually what you want to be protected. The first person should light their candle with a match. When he or she is done, the next person has their candle lit by him or her.
Now is the time to do any protective spells.
When you're finished, thank the God and Goddess for joining you. Uncast the circle.
Leave the offering on the altar while you enjoy the treats for yourself. When you're cleaning, place the offering under a birch or hazel tree.

I hope you all have a wonderful time.
Blessed Be
Alice
