Ostara

Hey guys,
Ostara is this Tuesday (March 20). It's a time of balance between night and day, the Spring Equinox. It's very much like Easter: the symbols are bunnies and eggs, same pastel colors, and around the same time.

At this time, the God is growing up to be a young man. He has gained strength after his birth at Yule. The Goddess has also returned to her maiden aspect. They see each other through new eyes. I like to think of them as dating. Ostara is one of the lesser Sabbats, but I believe all Sabbats are each an important part in this spiritual love story.

Because it is spring, your altar should include anything that represents life to you. This could be plants, seeds, pictures, or even stuffed animals.

Before the ritual, you might want to have colored eggs. Appropriate colors would be yellow, green, and purple. Just dye hard boiled eggs and save them for a treat for later. You might also want to perform the ritual outside. It's spring and nice out and full of life. That's why we're celebrating.

Ritual:

You will need:
Candles- green, yellow, purple
Ribbons- same colors
Circle materials

Steps:
1. The first thing you want to do before any ritual is cleanse the area. Both physically and spiritually.
2. Cast the circle.
3. If you're solitary, you might want it to be simple. For those in a coven or group might want something more elaborate. Which ever you decide, make sure everyone is incorporating something.
4. Light the candles. Green- earth and life. Yellow- sun. Purple- divine. The divine can be anything you find spiritual: God/Goddess, Spirit, your inner Divine, etc.
5. The ribbons can be used as decorations or something to dance with. Anything you want.
6. Think about what this day means for you. How do you keep a balance between light and dark in your life?

I know this ritual may seem vague compared to the ones I've posted before, but I really think that everyone should make it they're own. Look at what I write as an example and then build from it until its almost entirely yours. It has more power this way.

Chaste Moon Today (:

Hey there,
It's March so this full moon is called the Chaste Moon. March is a time for new beginnings. Cold winter days are giving way to warm spring days. I'm looking forward to this full moon because time for that spring cleaning that I've been talking about. It's a good way to start fresh and get rid of all that junk, physically and spiritually. That's what the word chaste means: pure.

I honestly don't know a ritual to perform for this moon. I am, however, still going to be casting a circle. And, to stick to the bright beginnings theme, I'll burn a sage smudge stick for purity.

I googled 'Chaste Moon Ritual' and found one that involves sweeping the negativity out of your home. I would love to do this but I don't have a broomstick. I have a vacuum, though. I'm not sure it works the same way because I can't physically push anything out the door. I'll just pretend ;)

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
